OUR STATEMENT

LIV Golf acknowledges its responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children*, and adults at risk**, and is committed to ensuring that safeguarding practice reflects statutory responsibilities and complies with best practice.

LIV Golf is committed to providing a safe environment for all minor professional athletes and/or volunteers involved in our project, as well as adults at risk, and recognizes that the welfare and interests of minors and adults at risk are paramount in all circumstances. It aims to ensure that regardless of age, ability or disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation, or socio-economic background, all children and adults at risk have a positive and enjoyable experience and are protected from abuse whilst playing or volunteering in LIV Golf events or carrying out work experience in a LIV Golf office. LIV Golf is committed to prioritizing safeguarding as it grows as a business and shall continue to re-evaluate its approach in this area on a regular basis to ensure that it is in keeping with best practice.

POLICY

As part of our safeguarding policy LIV Golf intends to:

  • promote the safety and well-being of children and adults at risk;

  • value, listen to and respect children and adults at risk;

  • adopt safeguarding best practice through our policies, procedures and code of conduct for staff and volunteers;

  • ensure everyone understands their roles and responsibilities with regards to safeguarding and is provided with appropriate learning opportunities to recognise, identify and respond to symptoms of abuse, neglect and other safeguarding concerns relating to children and adults at risk, including how to share/report any concerns;

  • appoint a Safeguarding lead with specific responsibility for safeguarding (details of which can be found at the end of this statement);

  • ensure that those involved in the provision of services to children and adults at risk are appropriately managed, and are suitably skilled to provide support and advocacy on behalf of children and adults at risk;

  • ensure appropriate action is taken in the event of incidents/symptoms of abuse and support provided to the individual(s) that raise or disclose the concern;

  • ensure that confidential, detailed and accurate records of all safeguarding concerns are maintained and securely stored ;

  • record and store information securely, in line with data protection legislation and guidance;

  • have appropriate employment checks in place when recruiting and selecting staff and volunteers;

  • appoint a nominated safeguarding lead for children and adults at risk, a deputy and a lead trustee/board member for safeguarding;

  • be available for anyone who needs help or has a concern .

* A child means an individual under the age of 18 (Children Act 1989), also referenced here as “Minor”.

** Adult at risk means an individual an individual aged 18 years and over who: (a) has needs for care and support (whether or not the Local Authority is meeting any of those needs) and (b) is experiencing, or at risk of, abuse or neglect and (c) as a result of those care and support needs is unable to protect themselves from either the risk of, or the experience of, abuse or neglect (Care Act 2014).
